Every year around this time, the light changes. The mornings get cooler, the sun sits a little lower, and my clients start walking in with the same quiet realization: summer was wonderful, but it left some summer evidence behind on their skin.

That is why fall tends to be my favorite season for skin repair (AND Pumpkin Lattes!) here in Englewood, NJ. Once the strongest sun of the year backs off, we can start to do the deeper work that summer puts on hold. And if the holidays matter to you, October is also the last honest window to start the treatments that need time to build. So this month is about two things: gently undoing what summer may have done, and quietly getting ahead of what is coming.

What Summer Left Behind

Here's the thing about sun damage: it's quiet all summer, and then October arrives.

The dark spots that got a little darker. The uneven tone across the cheeks and forehead. Skin that just looks a little duller and more tired than it did in the spring, even under a leftover tan and after a good night's sleep.

None of that means you did anything wrong. It means you lived your best life outside, which is the whole point of summer! But sun exposure adds up, and by October it usually shows up as pigment, texture, and a loss of that fresh, even glow.

The good news is that this is all very fixable, and I am here to help! Learn More

Why Fall Is the Repair Season

Tis the season I lean into the treatments that renew the skin itself. Here is what they are, and more importantly, what they do!

Cosmetic clinic collage: tools and syringes on a tray, then a practitioner treats a woman in a chair, applying serum with pink gloves.

SkinPen Microneedling, one of my favorite tools for clients across Bergen County, works by stimulating your own collagen to improve texture, soften early lines, and refine overall skin quality. Paired with PRF, it goes even further.

The Perfect Derma Peel, a medical-grade peel I use throughout New Jersey, is one of the most effective ways to lift pigment, brighten dullness, and reset uneven tone after a summer of sun.

Skin and laser rejuvenation, including LaseMD, targets sun damage and pigmentation directly, which makes it a natural fit for sun damage treatment here in Englewood, NJ as we head into the cooler months.

And because what you do between visits extends everything we do in the treatment room, I recommend Colorescience Even Up. I love this one for at-home care, and you can order it right through my Colorescience link.

The goal with all of these is the same as everything I do. Not a dramatic, obvious change. Just clearer, healthier, more even skin that looks like you on your best day.

The Other Clock: Building Collagen Before December

Surface repair is the part you can see. There is another part working underneath, and it is just as important.

Black graphic with pink timeline and text: Start now, glow by December; October-November-December milestones.

If you read my August blog, you already know how I feel about biostimulators like Sculptra and Radiesse. They do not add instant volume the way traditional filler does. They work with your body to rebuild your own collagen gradually, over weeks and months. That slow timeline is not a drawback. It is exactly why they look so natural.

But it is also why timing matters. Collagen you want to see by the holidays is collagen we need to start building now. Starting in October means your results have the runway to develop and settle beautifully by the time December arrives.

So think of October as two clocks running at once.

One is about undoing the summer on the surface. The other is about quietly building collagen underneath, so you walk into the holidays already looking like the most rested version of yourself, not rushing to catch up.

And TBH, the only way to really know which of these your skin needs is to sit down and look together.

Your Fall Skincare Reset (At Home)

What we do in the treatment room and what you do at home work together, and that is where the real, lasting results come from. A few simple shifts as the weather turns, and the products I reach for:

  • Repair the barrier. Cooler air and indoor heat pull moisture right out of the skin, so this is when I lean on the Epicutis Lipid Serum. It is the one I recommend most for rebuilding a healthy barrier and keeping skin calm and resilient through the season.

  • Keep working on tone. If post-summer pigment and dark spots are your concern, the Epicutis Arctigenin Brightening Treatment is a favorite of mine. It is gentle, retinol free, and works beautifully alongside your in-office treatments.

  • Do not put the SPF away. The sun is gentler now, not gone. The Colorescience Even Up Clinical Pigment Perfector SPF 50 is perfect for this stretch because it protects and blurs pigment at the same time, so you are shielding the progress we just made.

  • Ease off anything too aggressive if your skin still feels sensitive from summer. Repair first, then build back up. When in doubt, a quick message is always easier than guessing.

Everything here you can order right through my Epicutis and Colorescience links. Your skin changes with the season. Your routine should too.

Behind the Beauty

This October I get to do something a little outside the treatment room, and I am genuinely excited about it, but if I can be honest a little nervous too!

I have been invited to sit on the 4th Annual Latina Voices Panel, presented by the 100 Hispanic Women Rockland County Program in collaboration with Dominican University of New York, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.

It is an evening about celebrating diversity, leadership, and the very real journeys of Latina women in our community, and I am honored to be included alongside such an inspiring group.

Saying yes to things like this is its own kind of fall reset for ME! So much of my year is spent focused on my clients, my practice, being a soccer mom and my daughter’s fav Uber driver, lol, which I love. But this is a reminder to also show up, share, and connect beyond the four walls of my office, and this felt like exactly the right place to start.

If you would like to join me, the panel is a free event on Tuesday, October 6th at 5:30pm at the Granito Center in Blauvelt, NY, with food and entertainment included.

Registration is required at www.100hispanicwomen.org. I would love to see some familiar faces there.

What Clients Are Saying

Every so often a review stays with me, and this one did. Natalia almost did not write it because, in her words, she wanted to "keep her to myself."

I laughed, because that is the best kind of compliment. But what meant the most was what she said next: that I did not just do what she asked, I took the time to understand what she actually needed. That the results looked natural, like "a better version of me, not 'done.”

This is everything I hope a client feels. Not changed. Just more like yourself.

Coming Up in November

I'll share exactly when to book wrinkle relaxers and filler so everything settles in time for parties and photos, why the tired holiday season is the perfect moment for PRF under the eyes, and a few thoughts on investing in yourself heading into a busy stretch. Consider it your calendar for looking rested through the holidays.

Siempre.

The best version of your results starts with one honest conversation. Whether summer left something behind or you want to get ahead of the holidays, let's look at your skin together and map a plan made just for you.
